Christmas Dessert Table
The starting point for our dessert table was a red glitter wire Christmas tree and a white tablecloth. We then chose decorations, desserts and lollies to fit with a red and white colour scheme.
We used the following recipes:
Pavlova topped with whipped cream, halved and pitted cherries and berry coulis
Butterfly Cakes
Apricot Balls placed in mini red foil cupcake cases
Mini Baked Cheesecakes decorated with cream and slices of strawberry
Gingerbread House using this template to produce a triangular prism shaped house
Snowball Biscuits (recipe to come in 2013)
We used the following lollies and chocolates: red frogs, Strawberries & Cream, Kool Mints, Jaffas, candy canes, red M&M’s (separated from a pack of red and green Christmas M&M's) and red foil covered chocolates.
To create our display we used plain white tableware and clear glass containers:
Two 30cm diameter cake stands
One 18cm diameter cake stand
Two 32cm x 17cm rectangular platters
Two 25cm tall glass containers with a diameter of 11cm
One 31cm diameter round glass platter (under the gingerbread house)
Two 15cm x 7.5cm x 10cm glass containers
To give extra height to the tall glass containers, they were placed on boxes covered in Christmas wrapping paper.
The large central cake stand sits on a small wooden crate (31cm x 19cm x 14cm), which was painted white to fit with our colour scheme. © exclusivelyfood.com.au
The aluminium lolly scoops were decorated with red ribbon tied in a bow.
We added the food names to the labels, printed them on cardstock and placed some in small metal card holders. We used Blu Tack to attach the labels to the tall glass containers.
A red bead garland and Christmas baubles attached to a white wall with Blu Tack created a backdrop for our table.
The cardboard noodle boxes make great take home containers for lollies.
